Well he looks very different now but the first time I met Landon he was just itty bitty... Less than a week old and so sweet. Take a peek here. Now he is such a big boy but still every bit as sweet! I was contacted by Nicole back in October to photograph her maternity and newborn sessions. When asked how she heard of me, she said that she saw photographs I took of Morgan, way back here and has followed me ever since. I'm not going to lie; it felt good :) It's so nice to know I have some long time fans!
When Nicole and Jarrett's session day came around Calgary's MILD winter weather turned a bit chilly... it did make for some lovely cozy photos though! I am so looking forward to meeting their little girl in February, make sure to check back!

Hello Everyone!

With the holidays upon us and 2011 coming to a close I wanted to make sure I got to thank you all for being fans of my Facebook page and the blog - you're awesome, and you helped make 2011 an wonderful year. I wanted to let you all know about a couple things going on with Tickled Pink Photography.

1. The Holiday BOGO sale is still on until December 20th. Make sure you jump on this if you are planning to have maternity/newborn photos done this year. It will save you 50% on that newborn session! Or if you just want to have a couple of sessions done! Remember: this can be shared with family/friends, so you can give a session as a gift and save 50% on one for yourself! Here is the link.

2. Gift certificates are still for sale until December 22nd (if you want them for Christmas) they come beautifully gift wrapped and can be hand delivered (within the Calgary area). Denominations are $50, $100, half & full sessions. Here is the link.

3. I am having a contest on my Facebook page. It is an album of my personal favourite photos from this year. Please show your love for Tickled Pink Photography by taking a look and “liking” your favourite! The photo with the most votes will get a special Tickled Pink prize!!!

4. I am really looking forward to this years newborn line up, and keep them coming! 2012 I want to focus on exploring my style of photography with regards to newborns. I am so excited to try out new poses and props and know the growth in this area will be tremendous! Starting January 1st a 4x6 printable birth announcement template will be included in all newborn packages.

5. AND the final one...
Entering the world of motherhood earlier this year has opened my eyes (in more ways than one!) I have realized that more often than not it is the mother behind the camera, seldom in front of it. This summer I am going to be doing a series of “Mama and Me” mini-sessions. The dates and details are TBA. If you (or another awesome mama) are interested in being put on the email list for details about these sessions send me an email (tickledpinkphotos@gmail{dot}com) and I will add you. *By being added you are just going to receive the information on the mini-session series, booking will commence once dates are set.

Little Georgia is making her big blog debut. This session took place back in the summer (I know, I'm bad!) She is such a sweetie and loved getting dressed up for her little session. Oh Happy Day! {Calgary Newborn Photographer}

I am going to start this post apologizing for how far behind I am... I'm sorry to those waiting for their blog debut - it's coming! But when a girl reaches her 2011 goal it has to be shared :) My second attempt at the head in hands newborn pose was a success! Like all photographers as soon as I saw it I craved to achieve this pose. I wanted to make sure it was done very safely so a lot of research went into it before I make my first attempt... It has been a wonderful challenge and so worth the wait and reward!

Autumn

So those that know me well know that I love Autumn. That slow slide towards the holidays is my favorite time of year. What's not to love? The days get a little cooler a little shorter. The crisp air kisses the leaves gold and crimson. Cable knit sweaters, scarves and mittens are a welcome sight. Hot cocoa and cookies, fresh from the oven. Leaves and spent apples fallen by the wayside; their scent permeating the air, lingering long and heavy. Frost finally settles and brisk air sends you indoors with a shiver. The fireplace lite we turn cuddly, happy and blanket clad. The tree goes up, bright lights aglow and the joyful, cheerful spirit sets in. I can't help it, it's infectious!

This year I have the best gift of all, a new little one to share my excitement with, start new traditions with. Trust me, I am beyond enthusiastic about my new task! As I start gathering ideas and little traditions that will capture the magic of the season, I thought I would put it out there, do you have any family traditions you would share? Maybe a fond childhood memory??

First Tradition: Autumn photos, more specifically pumpkin photos! Normally I am just crazy and exciting enough to hold her attention; however, a cold pumpkin on my sweeties teething gums trumped me! The only (yes only) shot of her looking at the camera! She doesn't look particularly pleased about it, lol!

I am joining forces with my friend Chelsey of Wishing Star Gallery for a couple of newborn projects and we need some little models. We are looking to try some new poses and props!

If you or someone you know just had a little one or is due in the next couple of weeks and would be interested in a free mini newborn session, please send me an email at tickledpinkphotos{at}gmail{dot}com.

{Fine Print}
Your baby must be 10 days or younger at the time of the session and you must be willing to travel to us (south-east, Calgary).
As a thank you to you for lending us your little treasure, you will receive two discs one from Chelsey and one from myself. 10 - 15 photos on each that will include printing rights to the photos. The disc will be sent to you within 4-6 weeks of the session.

While doing her mama's maternity session I could have sworn this little gem was a boy... Until Alice was born I was spot on but she seems to have played with my gender radar!!! She is definitely all girl and at 8 days she was ready to model!

Does this little one have hair or what! There is a ton and it is wild!

She was perfect, sleepy and more than willing to be posed to my hearts content.

I found this flower planter on a trip into Winners... funny how photographers look at everything in terms of how they could possibly use it in a session... I love the end result though, exactly as I had envisioned it!

She is such a beauty and I feel so lucky to have met her.

Jody {Okotoks maternity session}

This session is from a couple months back. I just love doing sessions in Okotoks AB, it has such diverse spots to shoot and all within walking distance. Jody pregnant with her second child (check out her maternity, newborn and child sessions with her first daughter Carys)was so wonderful to work with, within a couple weeks of her due date she was more than willing so jump into whatever pose I asked :) It was such an honour to be asked to photograph for their second child. I hope you enjoy these, I sure did!

Well I have started up again... very very slowly!!!
I am only going to be taking a couple of clients per month. I do however have a mini session idea on the go, check back for the details in a couple of weeks.

In the mean time I am a bit behind on posting - I have to catch you up on three maternity, two newborn & two childrens shoots... goodness!!! I also have some new cute pictures of Miss Alice I am going to be posting shortly. But for now here is a maternity session I think you will love! Miss A and I go way back, I'm talking high-school cheerleading days!!! She is expecting her first sweet babe in the fall and made a special trip up from her home in Vegas to have some photos taken :)

37 Week Session

I wanted to get another session done with a more "size appropriate" belly... I had seen a beautiful winter session done a while ago where the mom-to-be wore all white with a lovely snowy backdrop behind her. Living in Calgary, I know there is no point counting on the weather, unless you want to be very disappointed. Believe me, there was amazing snow and hoar frost the week before but a little bit of sun took care of that! We did manage to get some beautiful shots with the snow that was left, and the location of these photos is very special for my husband and I. It is where we had some of our wedding photos done!

Early Maternity Session

Being a photographer myself, I knew that having a March baby wouldn't be the most ideal time for the type photographs that I like to capture myself. If you have followed my journey then you know the ones I mean. The ones taken as the sun is just entering that sweet spot in the evening where everything is washed in a golden haze and every photograph seems like if should be in a fairytale book.
Examples:

Anyways, as much as I wanted my photos to have that beautiful glow, I knew January and February just weren't going to pull through.
So in the end we did a VERY early session, an Autumn session to get those beautiful golden photos I desperately craved. The results - Amazing!

I have had some trouble writing this post, I knew I would have to but in truth I have been procrastinating for... well a couple of months, I finally feel like now is the time. Although I am really quite sad that I won't be able to do what I love doing and my break in client photography will be a hard adjustment I am really excited about what is to come.

You see, Colby and I are expecting a little bean!!!

Please stay with me over the following months, I am going to keep posting. Things will take a more personal turn but I hope to keep you all informed on what is going on with our little family.

As the vibrant greens of Summer start to fade and Autumn's gold and crimson emerge I begin to get that familiar itch. The anticipation of all that this wonderful season has to offer; rich spicy aromas, warm lazy days, savory stews and soups and the ever so gentle fall into the holidays. I love this time of year.

My Thanksgiving weekend was spent... yes, eating more then my fair share of turkey and all it's trimmings. Gathering with our family, re-visiting and savoring all of our childhood memories. We went on an impromptu nature walk around Elbow Falls, it was beautiful and so peaceful! A great time with friends!

This year we have so much to be grateful for. We have been truly blessed!
For all of my family and friends, for all of the clients that have turned into dear friends and a job that I am so in love with - I am truly thankful!

I have actually been dreaming of this session for quite a while. I just knew Carys would be the perfect little one to do it. This is Carys' third session with Tickled Pink (you can check out her moms maternity session and her newborn session here & here)
I just love how her big blue eyes seem to pop and the photos with mom are so beautiful in the setting sun!

The last month and a half

The blog has actually been down for the last month and a half. Thus the reason for no recent posts. I found out just how fragile passwords and security questions really are when my account was compromised. Needless to say I was less than impressed! But after a long haul Google came through for me and I can FINALLY start catching up on all of my missed posts... I called this post love because I love these photos, I loved working with these two and I loved the love they have for each other! Johanne and Tony were so comfortable in front of the camera, they played and joked and we had a great afternoon. I think their picture might have a romantic edge to them because of the lovely music that was floating in the air from the wedding going on behind us. Don't rain on my Parade {Sarah Bridal}

Ooh I am in love... I did a session with Sarah last year (you can view it here)on the first weekend in June where it snowed; so rain this year was much more acceptable. We had so much fun; the weather yesterday provided some amazing clouds for us and as I was hoping an incredible sunset! Twice as Nice! {Calgary Newborn Photographer}

I was able to meet these two a couple of weeks back and they were just so precious! It was my first experience with twins and I loved working with them; Little Miss Caydan and Mr. Chace were wonderful! I have to admit I was a bit nervous working with the two but really it was a joy! They stayed in a peaceful slumber for the most part and then only woke up for feedings one at a time. I couldn't have asked for better!

I finally took the time to decide on the list for my casting call! Once I did, I just got so excited; I have some really great ideas for each session and cannot wait to get started!!

3 “Bridal sessions”
For these sessions you must own or have access to a properly fitted bridal gown, you are also responsible for your own make-up and hair. I will provide the floral bouquets & other accessories.
~ Blond with long hair between the ages of 18 and 30 SPOT FILLED
~ Brunette between the ages of 18 and 30 SPOT FILLED
~ A married couple to re-experience the wedding day between the ages of 20 and 35
~ A former bride willing to do a trash the dress session (A lake-side session)

3 “Lifestyle/Children’s sessions”
~ Very outgoing identical twins between the ages of 4 and 7
~ Curly Red head girl between the ages of 3 and 6 SPOT FILLED
~ Very experienced and flexible female dancer (preferably Ballet trained) between the ages of 15 and 25 for outdoor leap/jump session.

3 “Newborn sessions”
~ For women expecting twins between April and August (* please note these newborn sessions MUST be done within the 7 days of birth; I will come to your home to do the session if need be) 1 SPOT FILLED

Little Hunter

Well after months and months of excitement and waiting my beautiful nephew is here! Proud parents Morgan & Breck had to go through quite an ordeal to get him here safely as he decided to come the night of Calgary's horrible blizzard! After a long night of stress, emotion and excitement Hunter arrived perfect as can be. I was so excited to do his newborn session and he was quite the little star. I met Claire's family back in August when we did a family session and then in September her mom and I did a maternity session. So I feel like I had been waiting for her arrival as I was awaiting my nephews! When I received news that it was a girl I was so happy for them! Now their family was complete and they got their little girl!
I can't wait to see how she grows with two wonderful brothers to show her the ropes!

I absolutely LOVE this little girls name Carys (care-is) Jade - how beautiful is that!!! Almost as beautiful as she is! Her parents, good friends Jody and Ryan were just ecstatic about the birth of their little girl and I was overjoyed to meet their little miracle. I just love my job!

I had so much fun with this couple; it was a wonderful day for photos and a welcome break from the bitter cold weather Calgary had experienced in October! Michelle and Dave got right into it and at the end even entertained me with shot after shot trying to catch the perfect "leave throwing photo", I thought it turned out pretty great! Their little one will be my first newborn shoot in 2010! I am anxiously awaiting the beginning of another great year in photography!

I met this sweet little boy back in early November. After doing his parents maternity session (here) we were expecting him to arrive early within a couple of weeks of their shoot; however, he keep us waiting and was born exactly on his due date! Trevan (cool name!) was the most cooperative and youngest newborn I have had the pleasure of working with; at three days old he was more then willing to be the perfect sleepy model for this session. I just love his little mohawk!

Hello my wonderfully supportive readers/clients!

Sorry I have been MIA all of December, it has been quite a month for our family! First with the sadness of losing our beloved cousin Cayley and then the joyful birth of our beautiful little nephew Hunter! It has been a crazy roller coaster and I want to thank everyone for their support and patience with me, I know it has been a long haul!

I also wanted to note that during the hustle and bustle of everything my auto reply was set up but not actually activated; I noticed that this morning and I am so sorry for all the unanswered emails!!! Please forgive me as I try to catch up...

Please continue to check the blog as I am back and am in full swing now! I have a ton of sessions to post; they will all hopefully be going up this week!

While this is the last shoot pre little one for Miss Morgan… I am already gearing up for the next!!! At 38 weeks she is positively glowing! Her baby has grown a ton since our last shoot at 24 weeks; I plan to put up a progression post in the next little while to illustrate the growth. Morgan wanted dad to be apart of the last session so these photos are a bit different from our previous styles! I love doing maternity photos with couples; they tend to play off each other which give the photos an extra spark! As Morgan nears her due date I love being able to see them continuously, the excitement has been absolutely electrifying for the last couple of weeks. Due at the end of November we are all anxiously awaiting the first son, nephew, grandson in our family!!! Check back beginning of December to have a sneak peak at our early Christmas gift!

Good friends Jody and Ryan are expecting their first child late November. I was so excited to do Jody’s mat pictures and while the weather didn’t cooperate that weekend we still managed to get some beautiful shots. I personally think it would be impossible not to – just look at the stunning eyes on those two! I cannot wait to see and shoot their little one; make sure to check back in a couple of weeks!

These guys were a last minute booking but am I ever glad I did! T had some very neat and different ideas in mind for her maternity session! Carter - Calgary Children's Photographer

Carter is such a sweet little guys and a great sport too! With the weather taking a turn for the worse in the Calgary region we ventured out to take some birthday photos. Despite it being chilly Carter was having a ball looking for bugs in the trees. Carter is soon going to be a big brother; check back for maternity and newborn photos with his mom and new sibling!

Julie and I met when I was photographing her beautiful family (see their session here) and we instantly hit it off! For her maternity photos the night was lovely and the sun golden, everything lined up perfectly and the results are stunning. Julie is due early December and I am anxiously awaiting my last little one of the year!

I was so happy to be able to meet & work with this family! They are wonderful, not to mention stunning! The Boys were awesome to work with, so full of life! Mom and dad were so patient with them. I only hope when my children come I could be half as patient with my children as they were! Julie is expecting their third child in early December (YAY for Christmas babies!) I featured a teaser of this little man a couple of weeks ago, isn't he darling! Landon stayed in a deep slumber for the majority of our shoot which was fantastic. His parents were wonderful to work with! I could just see the awe in their eyes watching me work with their little miracle. He was only six days old when we did the session but he is already loved beyond measure!

Western Maternity Photoshoot!!

Morgan, my beautiful sister in law and I have decided to document her pregnancy with monthly photoshoots. This is such an exciting time for our family, the first baby!!! I am so excited to meet this little person, to see who they will look like and act like and most of all how being so loved by everybody will shape them. The suspense and excitement is almost to much to bear! So what do we do... take it four weeks at a time, which brings us to Morgans 20th week; half way!!!! Her photo session was taken with the spirit of the Calgary Stampede!!! Something very dear to all our little western hearts. Calgarian's from all walks of life; no matter what, for 1o days every year turn into cowgirls and cowboys! I think (and I think you will agree) Morgan makes for one incredibly cute cowgirl!!!
